Join us on Wednesday, November 9 for our monthly ClayWorks Guild meeting. Our guest speaker/presenter is artist, Takuro Shibata. Takuro Shibata is a potter and the current director of STARworks Ceramics. He holds a degree in chemical engineering from Doshisha University in Kyoto. His background includes technical ceramic research including firing, developing and testing of clays and glaze. He has been a ceramics technical instructor at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shigaraki Japan and has been a resident artist at the Peters Valley Crafts Education Center in Layton, NJ and the Cub Creek Foundation in Appomattox in VA. He will tell us about STARworks and the very interesting work they are doing with native “wild” clays. In addition, he has been invited to bring some of his own pottery to sell.
The meeting is held in the Community Room at the Carol Woods Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, NC, and starts promptly at 7 p.m.
We hope to see you there!
